Colorectal Adenocarcinoma Guidelines Launch

The first multidisciplinary consensus in advanced colon cancer management

Indonesian Oncology Association (POI) together with Indonesian Digestive Surgeon Association (IKABDI), fully supported by Roche, launched the adenocarcinoma colorectal guidelines on December 2, 2004 in Semarang. The guideline is a breakthrough from the oncology professionals to reach a common procedure in colon cancer management in Indonesia. The guideline was made available by the joint efforts from oncologists, surgeons, anatomy pathology, radiology and related nurse which are a first in the medical industry.

The press conference was attended by Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Surveillance Committee of the Adenocarcinoma Colorectal, Prof. Dr. I. Riwanto, SpB-KBD and Dr. Warko Karnadihardja, SpB-KBD respectively, and Dr. Lilies Gunawan from Roche Indonesia.


Indonesia – Singapore Unites to Manage Cancer

Indonesian and Singaporean oncologists-hematologists unites to improve the communication and information flow in regards with health services for cancer patients. The agreement is based on the number of Indonesian patients that opts to seek medication in Singapore instead of locally. Accurate information on health services and medication will improve patients’ health literacy, hence better time and cost savings.

The cooperation aim towards partnership within the oncology-hematology associations of both countries to improve medical professional skills.

Present at the event were Dr. Karmen Wong of Singapore Siloam Gleneagles, Prof. Tan Yew Oo as the Chief of Singapore Delegates, Prof. Dr. Ary Harryanto SpPD Chairman of Hompedin and Prof. Dr. Zoebairi Djoerban Chairman of Indonesian Association of Hematology & Blood Transfusion.
